November 23 - 24, 2017 - Anniversary & Lizard Lunch
Nov 23-24.
The last entry should end on the 22nd. The 23rd was Happy Thanksgiving! Strangest Thanksgiving we've ever had. We took a long dinghy ride over to Carombola's, the restaurant in Friars Bay because we thought we'd have a Thanksgiving lunch and be able to call the kids. It was incredibly hot, no AC and the WiFi didn't work. We decided to make reservations for dinner and skip lunch. We took the dinghy back to the development at Christophe Harbor. Don got a sandwich and a Coke and I got another iced coffee. We were able to talk to the kids and a couple of Don's siblings. We were bummed that we didn't think we could have called Rod, since he had the app we're using to make calls
We moved the boat to Friars Bay to go to dinner at 5:30. They had a Thanksgiving buffet. The foods were all quite different but very good, except for the turkey, which was very dry. We are outside under the stars and they had a strolling tenor sax, who was excellent and a good singer too. We enjoyed it very much. It was a pricey so we decided we're call it our 45th anniversary dinner. We haven't gone out for our anniversary in about a decade. We moved the boat back to our original anchorage
On Friday we motored to Nevis to see Alexander Hamilton"s birthplace. It took about an hour and a half to get there. We grabbed a mooring and it started raining. It looked like we would be out of the rain in town so we took the dinghy in. Walked the short distance to Hamilton's birthplace but I got very lightheaded. We went to the very rustic Cafe Beaux Arts next door and had French toast for breakfast and some cool drinks. We were joined for breakfast by at least six large lizards and a rat. Since I was wearing sandals, I did keep my feet elevated and their appearance quashed any desire I entertained of laying down on the grass. The food was good and the lizards entertained us. After about 40 minutes we went over to see Hamilton's place again and took some pictures. We decided not to go through the museum as we, Don especially, was not going to learn anything new. We walked back to town where I waited in the shade while Don got some groceries. Dinghied back to the boat and sailed back to White House Bay. We anchored a little more to the south and had a lot more motion that night. - Deb
